Why a calendar alert is not an escalation system
A calendar reminder assumes the right person sees one notification at the right time. The work that matters most needs a stronger contract.
Calendar alerts are excellent for low-stakes time awareness. They are weak when the cost of silence is high. There is no acknowledgement, no backup owner, no delivery timeline, and no way to move from quiet channels to stronger ones.
Escalation is different. It starts with a reminder, watches for response, and changes behavior when nothing happens. A client renewal can begin with email, move to chat, then SMS, then a phone call. A production incident can skip straight to the stronger part of the chain.
YBY Bell is built around that distinction: reminders are not complete when sent. They are complete when acknowledged.
